창 밖을 내다보니
아니나 다를까
예고처럼 눈이 함박 내리고 있다.
마당에 나가 둘러보는데
하늘이 보이지 않는다.
조잡한 시감이 들어 한 수 급작해보았다.

세월은 또 해를 젖히고
내 삶의 켜가 늘어난다.
하염없이 나리는 흰 눈에
천지의 켜도 늘어난다.

세상은 어지럽고 인정은 탁한데
나는 어찌 내일을 모르느냐.
우러러 눈에게 묻나니
새 울음만 속절없이 들리더라.

星轉斗移
馬齒徒增
茫茫降雪
天地一样

雲擾精濁
不程前景
仰頭問雪
聽到唳聲

Flowing a year on again

growing a year older.

Falling boundless snow down

being the earth and the sky as same one.

Compassionless in disarray

not being awakened of tomorrow.

Just ask the snow

just hear the bird’s song.

집 담벼락 바깥에 서있는 은행나무

올해도 은행알 만개했구나.

옆 집 사람 올라가 쥐고 흔드니

은행알 우두두 떨어지는데

담장 안 개집에 매였는 똥개 녀석

놀래서 이리 뛰고 저리 뛴다.

불쌍한 똥개.

은행나무를 옮겨 심어야 겠다.

Ginko tree bore so much of ginko fruits over the house wall.

A man climbed that tree and is stamping ginko fruits.

And a dog standing out of his house under the wall, is frightened at falling fruits into his house.

How poor a dog he is.

So I consider seriously that I should replant ginko tree some other place.

늦은 저녘, 마을 식당에서 주림을 해결했다. 소머리 국밥. 이것 저것 먹으면서 ‘제법 맛있군~!’ 했다. 그런데, 마지막에 입가심으로 나온 식혜 한 사발이 나를 뻑 가게 한다. 식혜 속 생강 한 조각. 싸아~ 한 그 뒷 맛이 왜인가 했더니, 바로 그 생강 덕이었다. 계산을 치르고 식당을 나서던 내게는, 온통 생강 생각뿐이었다. 맛있다고 먹어치우던 고깃살도, 부추 무침도, 안주감으로 식전 나왔던 간 천엽도, 싱싱한 갓 김치도, 그 생강 한 조각에 모두 덮히고 마는 순간이었다… 과연 내게도 저런 생강이 있을까? 나란 놈, 겉으로는, 온갖 잘난 척 하며 살지만, 실상 사람들에게 감동을 줄 만한 그런 확실한 생강이 있을까?

For the dessert after the supper, I drank a little bowl of sweet rice drink. There was a piece of ginger in that bowl. Taste of ginger made my head be so cool. And also it made me forget all of cooks I ate at all. It was so touching to me. As I leave the restaurent I thought and ask myself. “Do I have my ginger to make people being touched?…” And, do you have your own ginger?

Being united with the nature

Enormous heavy rain struck us, so many of regions were flooded. And it made my garden weed grown thickly. In this afternoon I decided myself to remove weeds. After the work taken two hours in the rain, I have now a burning feeling on my arms and legs by the grass poison. But I could be united with the nature.

떠난 자를 품고자
우리는 함께 자리를 한다.
두런두런
그와 얽힌 옛 추억
한 줌 두 줌 꺼내
한 잔 두 잔 마시다 보면
옛날에 취하고
오늘에 흔들린다.
취하고 흔들리다 보면
어느새 그도
곁에 끼어 앉아
슬그머니 술잔을 내민다.

떠난 자를 그리워함은
남은 자가 품고 갈 행복일까 슬픔일까
남은 자의 그리움을 받음은
떠난 자가 품고 갈 행복일까 슬픔일까
행복도 슬픔도
한 줌 두 줌
한 잔 두 잔 술이라.
아쉬운 작별로
돌아서는 발걸음에
축축한 길바닥마저
취하고 흔들린다.

For embracing disappeared one,
remainders come to sit down together.
While murmur to each other as losing in him,
pieces of his memory
reserve the glasses.
Become drunk by the good old days
become swayed by today.
While we toast
he steals into our side
and sticks his glass out to us.

Longing for disappeared one
is remainders’ happiness or sorrow?
Taking remainders’ longing
is disappeared one’s happiness or sorrow?
Pieces of happiness and sorrow
reserve the glasses.
Turning steps
leave say goodbye with wistful smile
and make the wet street too
drunk and sway.

*Yesterday I’ve been to someone’s funeral. At there I recalled a memory of my close senior who died 5 years ago. And I arranged a diary I wrote one day after his death to this poetry today.

Meditation

우리는 늘 명상을 하며 산다. 명상은, 그저 가부좌를 틀고 앉아 눈을 감고 묵상에 빠지는 것만을 이르는 것이 아니다. 땀 흘리며 일을 하면서도, 술을 마시면서도, 맛있게 밥을 먹으면서도, 뒷간에서 근심덩어리를 배출하면서도, 출퇴근하는 찻간에서도, 동료들과 수다를 떨면서도, 하품을 하면서도, 잠을 자면서도, 꿈속에서도… 우리는 늘 명상을 한다.

We’re always having every moments of meditation. Meditation is not meaning just for sitting down and closing eyes to think something. during working as sweating out, drinking, eat delicious food, excreting in the bathroom, commuting, chatting with colleges, yawning, sleeping and even dreaming in a sleep… we always are having every moments of meditation.

호박 고추 잘도 익는다.
달팽이 개구리까지 신 났으니
좋구나, 여름날의 시원함이여!

Snails and frogs also sing together

珀椒全长大

working zealously

장마와 태풍이 격정을 뿜어낸다. 지구가 열심히 일하고 있다 이거다. 나도 마찬가지. 오늘 나는 뮤지컬 하나 보러 이 비바람을 뚫고 국립극장에 간다.

This planet is wroking zealously with monsoon and typhoon. Me too. I’m going to the national theatre to see a musical today above the strong wind and rain.

韓國被梅雨台风席卷. 地球工作肯下力. 我也一样他. 今天我逆强風雨而去國立劇場爲看樂劇.

My humble opinion about the culture

What thing we should call the name as Culture? Its’ discriminant is not hard, so easy. ‘something plausible’, that’s it. Then, what’s the something plausible? It means ‘something harmonious’. Harmony just can be accomplished as concerning with the Space(maybe same with Nature), Mankind and the Time(History). And also it must be helpful for rationalizing human life. Of course it’s needed innumerable sympathy and follow to approve of some kind of behaviour as culture When many of people feel sympathy about some kind of behaviour and follow it, yes this behaviour can be approval to be called as culture. However ‘Innumerable sympathy and follow’ can’t be unconditional standard. Because the vuvuzela is not the culture of some nation, was just noise pollution.

우리는 무엇을 문화라고 할 수 있을까?… 어렵게 생각할 것 없이 간단하다. “그럴 듯한 것”. 그것이 문화다. 무엇이 그럴 듯한 것인가? “조화로운 것”이다. 조화는, 공간(자연이라고도 칭할 수 있다)과 인간과 시간(역사겠지)과의 연결 타당성이 있을 때 가능해진다. 또한 그것은 인간의 삶이 합리적이 되는 데에 기여가 되어야 하고. 물론 어떤 행위가 문화로 인정받는 데에는 다수의 공감이 뒤따라야 한다. 그런데 다수의 공감이 밑받침되는 행위로써 어떤 행위가 문화가 될 수도 있지만 그것은 절대적 기준이 될 수 없다. 축구 경기장에서 난무했던 부부젤라(vuvuzela)가 문화는 아니었듯이. 그것은 단지 소음이었으니까.
